It almost makes me feel downright podunk to be "stuck" here in Utah the last several years, after looking at this map. I guess I'm going to have to plan a trip sometime. Maybe I can take Pipes with me. She apparently hasn't traveled much of the country... she's "just" been to Russia. ;-)
A few of these states were cut-throughs. Many I actually stopped in long enough to sample some of the culture, the food, and the people. And I actually lived in a pretty good number of them, over the course of my life, with my father and myself both having served in the military. I wish I could diagram my path from one part of the US, to another, to another. And annotate three years in Japan, somewhere along the way.

And I would have visited FL years ago, if I hadn't been a brooding, angst-ridden teenager who preferred to stay home alone instead of accompanying my family to Disneyworld back then.
I have a friend I've known since I was twelve, who's currently living in Orlando. I may have a shot at knocking Florida off the map sometime in the next few years. It'd be a good chance to meet his darling wife and baby. (The kiddo's still in the oven)
I actually envy you your travels more... Egypt? I so wanna go there.

Pfft...
States... heh. It's all about countries, man... countries. :-)June 29 2007, 01:53:21 UTC 4 years ago
Re: Pfft...
In that case, my list would be short: The USA, Japan, and Mexico. Not even Canada.Oh... and Los Angeles. That's a whole separate country, unto itself. Kinda like Beirut, but with better music.
Good to seeya, Dave. =)

I've been to beaches in Hawaii, California, Texas and Virginia/The Carolinas... I figure that Florida might complete the experience for me.
Also Japan... though beaches aren't quite the deal there that they are in the USA. And for the people they ARE a deal for... well, the women tend to dress more scantily. The mores are different there.
Mom about had an aneurysm when my brother and I were watching the Japanese equivalent to Sesame Street, and a beer commercial came on with a naked American woman running and bouncing across a beach.
